Been in hibernation a bit since the gig, doing some badly needed catching up on work, amongst other things, so as everyone has already said, thanks heaps to everyone who came and helped out.

Saw the Whitlams at the Hi Fi Bar on the weekend, which was pretty cool. Good venue, too - it's got an upper level then a stairway down into the main area, all dark and burrow-y, kind of like the Metro but in a good way! Supported by Ice Cream Hands and Brunatex - one of those strange, slightly experimental bands with 6 people that the Whitlams seem to make a habit of picking up - at least the two times I've seen them. I'd never heard Ice Cream Hands, so that was cool - good straight ahead rock songs, although surprisingly light in the riff department. They too had an acoustic guitar that squealed feedback like crazy, so that made me feel good about myself. Quite by chance, I was up the front when they ended, so I was practically in the Whitlams' faces when they came on, up with the diehard fans in the tshirts. Foremost among them was a couple who looked exactly like Nathan and Kelly, which was a bit weird (the bizarro Nathan and Kelly??). And up close, Tim Freedman reminded me of James McMillan, so it was all very surreal.
